Sale Sharks sign Italian international

Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Sale Sharks has announced the signing of Italian international prop player Alberto de Marchi on a contract of two years with the player turning out for the club at the end of the season.

The 28 year old, who was a part of the Italian national team in the recently concluded Six Nations Championship and played all five matches for the Italians during the competition and will be a direct replacement for the club’s England international front rower Henry Thomas who will be moving to Bath Rugby at the end of the season.

Sale Sharks to offer new contract

Mark Cueto is set to extend a brilliant thirteen year spell at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Sale Sharks by signing a new deal with the Salford based side.

Cueto, a former winger for England and the British and Irish Lions is in the last year of his current contract with the side and there was widespread speculation at the end of last season that this would be his last with the club and he would retire at the end of the term and look for a new career opportunity in the broadcast media circuit.

Diamond says Sale Sharks could splash in transfer market

Steve Diamond, the Director of Rugby of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Sale Sharks has not ruled out adding further personnel to the squad if injury problems still persist with the side.

The Sharks recently signed Tongan international forward Viliami Fihaki for the side with the team dreadfully short of options in that position and this could lead to more players coming in.

Powell wants new Sale Sharks contract

Andy Powell, the number eight for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union side the Sale Sharks is still hopeful of being able to extend his contract with the club beyond the end of the current campaign. Henry Thomas, who plays at prop for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Sale Sharks, has spoken of his frustration at being injured during a time when The Sharks endured their worst run in the Premiership for years, and he was unable to help the side.

Sale Sharks prop could be banned for doping

Eifion Lewis Roberts, the prop for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Sale Sharks could be slammed with a ban of two years after testing positive for the use of a performance enhancing drugs during his stint with the previous club Toulon last June.

According to the hugely French newspaper L’Equipe, Lewis Roberts tested positive for not only one, but two drugs, morphine and pseudoephedrine and his urine B-sample also returned a positive result when random dope tests were conducted on the players during the Top 14 final clash between Toulouse and Toulon.
